Auto News: Automobile Palace for sale at £300,000
Posted on Thursday, September 23 @ 13:55:23 CDT by Automobile

Auto News Councillors in a Mid Wales town are to discuss the future of one of their most glamorous buildings after calls were made for them to buy it for posterity.

The Automobile Palace in Llandrindod Wells, a listed building and the only example of art nouveau architecture in Wales, has been put up for sale by the Welsh Development Agency.

Tenant, Scotford Lawrence, who runs the National Cycle Collection which is based in the Automobile Palace, has called on the town council to buy the building.

The museum was saved from closure by residents of Llandrindod who raised £10,000. But councillors said at a meeting yesterday that they did not have anything like the £300,000 the building would cost.

Members agreed to consider the future of the building at the October meeting.
